Backup your Windows Phone

In a Windows Phone after signing in with your Microsoft account, you can turn on backup services that lets you automatically save important things such as your contacts, messages, apps you have installed in your phone etc. So you have backup if something happens to your phone.

Please Note:
  • This article is basically for WindowsPhone 8.1 but even if you have WindowsPhone 8, the method to take backup is almost same.
  • You will need internet in your mobile to take backup. 

To do a manual backup in your WindowsPhone:

Apps+Settings:
  • Go to Settings > Backup > Apps + Settings, then turn on both Settings Backup and App backup, and then tab Backup Now.
Text messages:
  • Go to Settings > Backup > Text Messages, then turn on text messages backup.

Photos + Videos:
  • Go to Settings > Backup > Photos + Videos, then choose one of the following for your photos and videos:

    Tap Don't upload if you don't want to automatically upload your photos or videos.

    Tap Good quality to automatically upload photos at a resolution that uses less data

    Tap Best quality to automatically upload photos or videos at the highest possible resolution.
