Windows Search Hack


  1. Searching a file/ folder by its Name:
    2. Type the Name of the file you searching in Search Box and hit Enter.
    For example, in Search Box type "Lynda" and hit Enter.

    This will bring a list of the files and folders whose name has your search term i.e in my case "Lynda"

  2. Searching a file/ folder by its Type (Format/ Extention):
    3. For example, If you searching for a Song (audio file) than most probably its file type is .mp3 or .wav so,
    in Search Box type "*.mp3" and hit Enter
    or
    type "*.wav" and hit Enter

    This search will bring a list of all the files whose type is .mp3 or .wav

  3. Searching a file/ folder by File Size:
    4. For example, in Search Box type "size:small" and hit Enter

    This search will bring a list of file whose Size is in between 10 - 100 KB.
    Below are the size options you can search with:
    Empty (0 KB)
    Tiny (0 - 10 KB)
    Small (10 - 100 KB)
    Medium (100 - 1 MB)
    Large (1 - 16 MB)
    Huge (16 - 128 MB)
    Gigantic (> 128)
